Do you have a Dell laptop and is there a Euro symbol on the number 5 key?

You can type it by pressing the right Alt-key + 5
If that does not work for you, then probably the wrong keyboard layout is selected. Change it by going to the Control Panel, make sure that you select the Keyboard layout/ US International
