Directory Services Restore Mode (DSRM)

Directory Services Restore Mode (DSRM) is used on a Microsoft Windows Domain Controller to take the Active Directory on that machine offline.

A DSRM password is chosen during installation. If you later want to change the DSRM password, you can use the NTDSUtil command-line shell program to do so.

Write this password down on a paper and store this paper in a safe.
